Back in November, Samsung unveiled the Android powered Galaxy Premier smartphone for international markets. Today, the South Korean manufacturer launched this smartphone in its home country. However, the device has been renamed from Galaxy Premier to Galaxy Pop. Samsung has also upgraded the dual-core processor to quad-core processor. Apart from that, there are no major changes in the specs of this device.

I’m sure some of you might get confused with the previously launched Android Gingerbread powered Galaxy Pop. However, the new Galaxy Pop (SHV-E220S) looks strikingly similar to the Galaxy S III smartphone and runs on the newer Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating System. This device will be available across all three major carriers – SKT, LG U+ and KT in South Korea.

Samsung Galaxy Pop features a 4.65 inch HD display, sporting a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, 1.4 GHz quad-core Exynos 4412 processor, Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) OS, TouchWiz UI, 8 megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash, full HD (1080p) video recording and playback, 1.9 megapixel front-facing camera for video calls and so on.

It also comes with a 3.5 mm headset jack, FM Radio with RDS, GPS with A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, S-Pen, S Note, S Planner, Samsung Hub, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 4G LTE Connectivity, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal memory, MicroSD card slot, 64 GB expandable memory, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, up to 790 hours of stand-by time, up to 11 hours of talk-time and a 2100 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy Pop is currently available for 700,000 South Korean Won (approx. $650). Samsung has also bundled a Flip Cover right in the box.
